Machinery Risk Assessments
There is a legal requirement for machine manufacturers, system integrators, anyone who modifies machinery or those who build their own machinery to conduct a machinery risk assessment. In order to ensure your machinery risk assessment is valid for all the lifecycles of the machine, you must thoroughly understand the Supply of Machinery Safety Regulations and the Machinery Directive.
Both the Supply of Machinery Safety Regulations and the Machinery Directive refer to the internationally recognised BS EN ISO 12100 risk assessment standard for machinery as the start point for any machinery assessment. In addition to this, there are in excess of 700 other machinery safety standards that can provide guidance and support in assessing and controlling risks related to machinery.
